Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 11, 2026
The short version: LiftIron has no accounts and no servers of our own. Your workout data stays on your device and in your personal iCloud. We don't track you, run ads, or sell your data — ever.
1. Who this applies to
This policy describes how the LiftIron app ("LiftIron", "we", "us") handles your information on iPhone, Apple Watch, and Mac. By using LiftIron, you agree to this policy.
2. Data we collect and how it's stored
LiftIron is designed to keep your data in your hands. The information you enter and generate — including workouts, logged sets, routines, cardio sessions, body metrics, and goals — is stored:
- On your device, and
- In your own private iCloud using Apple's CloudKit, so it syncs across your Apple devices.
This data is associated with your personal Apple ID and iCloud account. We do not operate our own servers and we never receive, store, or have access to your data. We cannot see your workouts.
3. Location data
If you use GPS cardio tracking, LiftIron accesses your device location only while a cardio session is active, to record distance, pace, and your route. Location data is stored with that cardio session in your own iCloud, exactly like the rest of your data. It is never sent to us or to any third party. You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your device's Settings; cardio distance/route features simply won't be available without it.
4. Health & HealthKit data (Apple Watch)
On Apple Watch, with your permission, LiftIron uses Apple's HealthKit to:
- Read your heart rate and active energy during a cardio workout, to show live stats and estimate calories.
- Write completed cardio workouts to the Health app, so they count toward your Activity rings.
HealthKit data is governed by Apple's privacy protections and stays on your device and in your Health database. We never receive your Health data, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with anyone. You control these permissions in Settings → Health, and can revoke them at any time.
5. What we don't do
- No user accounts, logins, or passwords.
- No analytics SDKs, advertising, or third-party trackers.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of your personal data.
- No collection of your data on servers we control.
6. Data you choose to export or share
LiftIron lets you export your history to CSV or JSON. When you export, the file is created on your device and you decide where it goes (for example, sharing it via the iOS share sheet). Anything you share after exporting is under your control and outside the scope of this policy.
7. Children's privacy
LiftIron is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because data never leaves your own devices and iCloud, no personal information is transmitted to us in any case.
8. Your control & deletion
You can delete individual workouts and cardio entries within the app at any time. To remove all app data, delete the app and remove its data from your iCloud storage in your device's iCloud settings. Because we don't hold your data, there is nothing on our end to request deletion of.
9. Third-party services
LiftIron relies on Apple iCloud/CloudKit for storage and sync and Apple HealthKit for Health integration. Your use of these is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not integrate any other third-party data services.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of LiftIron after changes means you accept the revised policy.
